Since it was first established in 1951, the University of Utah School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education (UUCME) has served as the leader in academic medical education of physicians throughout the Intermountain West. UUCME is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians and engages its academic partners, The University of Utah Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health, to promote multidisciplinary health professional continuing education.

In 2010, the UUCME was awarded Accreditation with Commendation (active through March 2016) having earned exemplary compliance levels in the areas of purpose and mission, educational planning, and by engaging and collaborating with government and private stakeholders to expand the scope of its educational outreach.
