The theme of the conference

Medical Education Research Conference

The 52nd Annual Conference on Research in Medical Education (RIME) will be held in conjunction with the AAMC Annual Meeting, November 1-6, 2013, in Philadelphia. The conference is planned and organized by the RIME Program Planning Committee, a committee of the Group on Educational Affairs. The conference provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of research concerning all aspects of medical education.

All accepted research and review papers will appear in the October 2013 issue of Academic Medicine.

Call for Submissions

Submission deadline closed Feb. 8, 2013

If accepted, you are expected to be at the meeting to present. If your abstract is accepted and you do not attend or present without notice to the AAMC staff, your abstract will be removed from the online program and you will not be permitted to participate on the program for two years.

Only the Primary author of each Research or Review Paper, Abstract, and the organizer of each Symposium will be notified in April 2013 of the status of their submission.

Occasional scheduling conflicts may occur due to multiple submissions or participation in other aspects of the meeting. In such cases, the paper/abstract may be presented by a substitute for the first author, but the presenter must be a co-author of the paper or abstract.

Each accepted RIME paper will be considered for the following awards:

New Investigator Award
To encourage submissions of research and review papers from individuals who have no prior involvement with RIME activities, up to three New Investigator Awards will be presented each year. To qualify for consideration for a New Investigator Award, the principal author must not have been the first author of a previous RIME paper. If an author wishes to have a research and/or review paper considered for this award, he/she must check the New Investigator box on the Research and/or Review Submission Form.

Outstanding Research Paper Award
A single award will be made for the best research paper. All accepted research papers will automatically be considered.
