ELMIRA, NY – Commencement of the 2014 Class of Arnot Ogden Medical Center School of Nursing takes place 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5 at Meier Hall – Stephan’s Lounge at Elmira College in Elmira, NY. This marks the School of Nursing’s one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary and its one hundred thirty-first graduating class.*
When the School of Nursing was founded on September 1, 1889, the Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital Training School of Nurses welcomed a freshman class of three to fill a nursing shortage at the recently founded Hospital. Since that time, the School of Nursing has educated more than 2, 400 professional nurses whose skills, talents and expertise Arnot Health acknowledges and traditionally seeks to employ. True to that tradition, most of this year’s twelve graduates have accepted employment with Arnot Health.
The Arnot Ogden Medical Center School of Nursing offers professional nursing students a carefully planned program of studies designed to prepare graduates for careers in registered professional nursing.
Arnot Health provides primary, specialty, diagnostic, ambulatory, secondary and tertiary acute care, as well as rehabilitative and wellness services to the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. The system currently has more than 300 physicians from 50+ specialties.
