COURSE LENGTH: 19 Days

PURPOSE: This training course covers all emergency medical techniques currently considered to be within the scope and responsibilities of the Basic EMT providing emergency care within DoD/USAF emergency medical services. This course consists of lessons involving classroom and field training. Upon successful completion of this course students are qualified to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certifying examination which is conducted the final day of class. This course satisfies the USAF Basic EMT requirements.
PREREQUISITE: Qualification as a specialist or technician (AFSC: 4N0X1/4F0X1) is mandatory. Previous experience in emergency medical services (ANG or civilian) is desirable. It is requested that all ANG medical units provide this initial training to their personnel assigned to emergency medical services. Additional 4N/4F personnel should be trained as adjuncts once the primary personnel receive this Basic EMT training.

Personnel for whom the training is not mandatory may attend if class slots are available and if the unit is willing to fund. Member must meet prerequisites for this course. Due to the strenuous nature of this course (lifting, vehicle extrication etc.), students on medical profile should not attend until returned to full-duty status.
